Donations The Chris Carter Scholarship Fund was established shortly after Chris' death on June 12, 2004. The First Annual Chris Carter Memorial Golf Tournament was held in September 2004 at Bradford Creek Golf Club in Greenville. We had 16 teams and raised enough money to fund a single $1,000 scholarship in Chris' honor, and it was awarded to a senior from JH Rose High School. The 2nd Annual Event was held at Topsail Beach, hosted by the Cameron L Smith Family and we saw that the tournament could become bigger and better. The third year saw the tournament return to Greenville and was hosted at Brook Valley Country Club. It was held there until 2014. In 2015 the tournament moved back to Bradford Creek Golf Club through 2018. In 2019 we selected Ayden Golf and Country Club as our venue. Over those 19 years the number of scholarships given out has increased dramatically, with over $250,000 being provided by the Fund. This could not have happened without the support of our golfers, hole sponsors, those that donate prizes and raffle items, and our volunteers. This tournament is a true testament to the number of lives that Chris touched during his life and the lasting friendships that he created. He is forever in our hearts. This year we will have the 20th and final Chris Carter Golf Tournament on Friday, September 8, 2023 at Ayden Golf and Country Club located at 4343 Ayden Golf Club Road, Ayden NC. Shotgun Start will be at 12 noon. Check beings at 10am. WE HAVE SET A GOAL TO RAISE $20,000 FOR FUTURE SCHOLARSHIPS. This would allow the balance of the Chris Carter Scholarship Fund to endow THREE scholarships going forward! A Donation Table will be set up staffed Beth Ulffers from Pitt County Educational Foundation to accept DONATIONS to the fund via cash, check, or credit card.
